Surma Kohl is an ancient eye cosmetic, traditionally made by grinding stibnite for similar purposes to charcoal used in mascara. It is widely used in the Middle East, North Africa, the Mediterranean, South Asia, Is authentically reported from the Prophet. The Prophet would apply kohl in moderation for health reasons and it is permissible for women to wear it as a cosmetic.
